For those who are completely new to Malaysian timbers, this book serves as a useful introduction. The timbers which are illustrated by coloured photographs represents only a small number out of a large variety of 2,500 tree species found in the tropical rain forests of Malaysia. Some species are available in larger abundance than others but there are vast possibilities of using the less available species by using them in groups where they have in common the properties considered essential for the particular end use.
