Critical to the establishment of a successful forest plantation is the selection of species and planting material for the programme. It is an important aspect of a forest plantation management plan that will determine the targeted outcome. Selecting the appropriate tree species and location for planting is imperative to sustaining a healthy forest plantation development programme. The Forest Plantation Development Programme (FPDP) is one of the Government initiatives to ensure continuous availability of wood raw material for the country's timber industry as well as to reduce the pressure on the production of timber products from natural forest.
